On the sidelines of the 2025 World Environment Day (HLH) Expo and Forum in Jakarta on Monday, Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control at the ministry Rasio Ridho Sani said that this year, his party will conduct direct monitoring of companies for verification.
Local governments will be tasked with carrying out direct PROPER supervision or monitoring in the field, he added.
With the involvement of local governments, he explained, it is hoped that the quality of data with the KLH, as a basis for PROPER assessment, will improve.

“By involving local governments, we hope that the data quality that we obtain as the basis for our assessment will be much more valid,” he explained.
The supervision will not only involve local governments, but also environmental impact control officers from the KLH. It will be coordinated with the environmental control center in each region.
The monitoring will follow the standard procedures of the KLH to ensure that the data submitted is in line with the standards.
“We are currently developing a large system, big data, for company compliance. So, by involving the local government, district/city, then province, we will also prepare a quality control system for existing data,” Sani said.
According to KLH data, the number of companies participating in PROPER has increased from 4,495 in 2024 to 5,476 in 2025.
