Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto emphasized his commitment to collaborating in education with the Russian government.

In a meeting held in St. Petersburg, Russia some time ago, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, Valery Falkov, said that Indonesia is one of the countries that has higher education participants in Russia.

"The level of participation of Indonesian participants for Russian Government scholarships has grown very rapidly and I hope this number will continue to increase," Falkov said through a statement in Jakarta, Monday.

Falkov also said that the Indonesian government could open greater opportunities for Indonesian scholarship participants to study in Russia.

Responding to that, Yuliarto welcomed the request from the Russian side and said that the Indonesian government would provide 100 scholarship quotas to take a doctoral degree in Russia.

"The selection of Russian government scholarship participants can involve the Ministry of Education and Technology, and make the scholarship program a form of support for Indonesian government policies," he said.

The Minister of Education and Technology emphasized that Indonesia and Russia must be able to carry out joint research funding programs for professors. He also emphasized that undergraduate degrees for students who continue their studies to the Magister level can later be recognized and awarded in the form of undergraduate diplomas.

"The arrangement, mutual recognition, qualifications, and academic degrees of Indonesia and Russia are currently in the process of being finalized," he added.

Therefore, Yuliarto is now awaiting the arrival of Falkov, which is planned for October 2025 in Indonesia, to sign the document on the mutual recognition agreement and qualifications and academic degrees of Indonesia and Russia.
