Jakarta (ANTARA) - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf has requested that President Prabowo Subianto personally deliver a briefing to headmasters and teachers of tuition-free schools established under the Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) program.

"We would like to request Mr. President to take the time to brief headmasters and teachers," he remarked during a limited meeting with Prabowo at the president's private residence in Bogor, West Java, on Monday (June 23) night.

On the occasion, Yusuf informed the president that the Sekolah Rakyat program has entered its first phase of implementation, according to an official statement received on Tuesday.

He noted that 100 sites had been prepared to operate as schools to serve the educational needs of over 9,700 children, starting July 14, with an orientation period lasting two to three months.

For the second phase, he remarked that the ministry would coordinate with the Ministry of Manpower to establish an additional 100 locations, including vocational training centers, for school activities.

"If possible, we aim to integrate the two stages to reach a capacity of over 20 thousand students," the minister explained.

Regarding human resources, Yusuf highlighted that the Ministry of Social Affairs plans to hold another training session for 47 headmasters in mid-July, similar to a recent activity held for 52 headmasters.

In addition to discussing the education program, he also used the limited meeting to brief President Prabowo on the distribution of social assistance, reporting that it has reached 80 percent of its intended beneficiaries.

"We have reported everything to the president," he affirmed.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Social Affairs remains committed to supporting President Prabowo’s mission to improve public welfare through education, social protection, and community empowerment initiatives.
