Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is closely monitoring the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, an official said on Tuesday.
In response to escalating hostilities between the two countries, Prabowo has instructed all relevant government agencies to prioritize the safety and security of Indonesian nationals in affected areas.
"The President has directed his aides to take anticipatory measures and evacuate Indonesian citizens from conflict zones," said Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro.
He added that Prabowo has consistently emphasized Indonesia’s non-aligned position and commitment to promoting a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
"Indonesia’s position is clear—we firmly believe that peace is always preferable to war, which only brings loss to all parties involved," Ardiantoro said.
As part of its response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has raised the alert level at the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran from Level 2 to Level 1—the highest tier—and begun evacuating citizens. In the first round, 97 Indonesians were flown out of Iran.
Tensions in the Middle East spiked on June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites in Iran, claiming to target military and nuclear facilities. Iran immediately retaliated.
The situation escalated further when the United States entered the conflict on June 21, deploying bomber aircraft to strike three Iranian nuclear facilities.
In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday, prompting a protest from Qatari authorities.
