“Health issues are included in the Asta Cita initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, so they need to be the focus of the regional governments,” he said in Jatinangor, West Java, on Thursday.
Therefore, health programs, such as Free Health Checks (CKG), tuberculosis eradication, and quality improvement of regional general hospitals (RSUDs), must be supported by regional governments, he added.
He informed that the CKG program has reached 10 million beneficiaries, or is covering 200 thousand people per day.
Under the program, health checks of students are being carried out at schools to prevent long queues at health facilities, Sadikin said.
“Regional heads are expected to deploy health workers and prepare adequate health equipment. This program aims to reach the community because it is our job to keep the community healthy,” he added.
Regarding the improvement of regional hospitals, Sadikin said that the government is building 66 hospitals in underdeveloped districts/cities across Indonesia.
“We are targeting to complete 32 hospitals by the end of this year,” he informed.
He then drew attention to the important role of regional governments in providing specialist doctors in the regions, especially since his ministry is providing scholarships for general practitioners in regions to help them become specialist doctors.
“So, I ask all regional heads here, please help us find general practitioners. I will help to give the scholarship, but please prioritize local talents,” Sadikin said.
He also highlighted efforts to accelerate tuberculosis (TB) eradication, which have led to a 50-percent drop in cases.
“We also discussed the program to complete health equipment in 10 thousand community health centers and 514 district and city hospitals,” Sadikin said.
