Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Presidential Communication Office (PCO) has reported that the number of Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) beneficiaries has surpassed 5.5 million, with 1,800 nutritional fulfillment service units (SPPGs) preparing food for the program nationwide.

“As of Sunday, June 29, 2025, there are more than 1,800 points of SPPG that cover more than 5.5 million beneficiaries,” deputy for dissemination and information media at the PCO, Noudhy Valdryno, revealed in an online statement, which was accessed from Jakarta on Monday.

According to Valdryno, the MBG Program has gone beyond providing meals to schoolchildren. It is also serving as an important social program that touches many aspects of life, from children’s health, quality of education, to driving the local economy, he expounded.

He said that as per initial data, the program has had a positive impact, including an increase in the nutritional status of children beneficiaries.

He affirmed that the program is running during the school holiday period under a distribution scheme prepared by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

Given the challenges to the program’s implementation, which targets a nationwide reach, he affirmed that the government is ensuring that evaluations continue to be carried out and quick responses are taken to address hindrances.

The government has also invited the public and media to continue to monitor the program and provide constructive inputs.

“The government continues to evaluate and is committed to responding quickly and seriously because this program concerns the future of our generation,” he said.

Launched on January 6, 2025, MBG is one of the main programs initiated by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for their 2024–2029 term.

Through the program, the government is aiming to improve the nutritional status of children under five, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and schoolchildren up to the high school level.
