During a limited coordination meeting here on Monday (June 30), the ministry's secretary, Andika Dwi Prasetya, stated that his office is ready to support the formation of the task force in strengthening regulations and governance related to AI and cybersecurity that are just and fair.
“Cross-sector synergy is the key. The ministry is prepared to provide support, both in policy formulation and technical implementation related to legal, human rights, immigration, and correctional aspects,” he noted in a written statement here on Tuesday.
The ministry believes that forming the task force will reinforce national digital resilience and ensure that the development of information technology and AI in Indonesia aligns with the principles of justice, security, and respect for human rights.
Deputy Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, highlighted during the meeting the importance of comprehensive digital transformation, including the utilization of data analytics, cloud computing, AI, and the Internet of Things (IoT), to drive digital innovation and resilience.
“Digital transformation is an urgent necessity that must be addressed through cross-sector collaboration,” he stated.
He further explained that establishing the task force is a strategy move to confront challenges and maximize opportunities in digital technology.
Present at the meeting were senior and high-ranking officials from related ministries and agencies, including the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security, Lieutenant General Mochamad Hasan.
During the meeting, participants agreed to form the Cyber and AI task force that will coordinate the functions, authorities, and capabilities of each ministry and agency in response to the increasingly complex developments in the cyber and AI sectors.
