A total of 1,160,217 foreign travelers entered through the country’s main entry gates, while 145,783 others came into Indonesia through border gates, deputy for statistics distribution and service at the BPS, Pudji Ismartini, said.
Cumulatively, the number of international tourist arrivals from January to May this year was recorded at 5.63 million, up 7.44 percent compared to the same period of 2024, she disclosed.
Of the total figure, Malaysia contributed 18.26 percent tourists, while Australia and Singapore contributed 11.33 and 9.68 percent, respectively, making the countries the three main contributors to foreign tourist arrivals, Ismartini said.
Meanwhile, the total number of local tourists visiting top destinations across the country in the January–May period stood at 508.67 million, an increase of 16.13 percent compared to the year-ago period, she added.
The cities of Bogor, Bandung, South Jakarta, Surabaya, Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, Tangerang, West Jakarta, Bekasi, and Sleman were the ten main destinations for domestic tourism, she informed.
