“As of June 29, 2025, crude oil production has reached 602 thousand barrels,” Minister Lahadalia stated during a working meeting with Commission XII of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The reported figure represents gross production and does not yet account for lifting, as the oil is not ready for sale.
The rise in production follows the inauguration of several new oil fields, including the Forel and Terubuk fields in the Riau Islands, which have contributed an additional 20 thousand bpd.
Additionally, after increasing output at the Banyu Urip Field in the Cepu Block, East Java, production there has now reached 180 thousand barrels per day -- equivalent to 25 percent of the national oil lifting. Earlier, the field produced only 150 thousand barrels per day.
“Just yesterday, we inaugurated an additional 30 thousand barrels per day. This was then compiled and combined with the output from community wells that have been operating and were recently formalized,” Lahadalia stated.
With these developments, Lahadalia expressed confidence that the government’s oil lifting target of 605 thousand bpd could be achieved by the end of December 2025.
“God willing, we will meet the government's oil lifting target of 605 thousand barrels by the end of December 2025,” he noted.
As of May 2025, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources recorded actual oil lifting at 568 thousand bpd.
Looking ahead to 2026, Lahadalia has set a target of 600 thousand-610 thousand bpd for oil lifting and 5,338–5,695 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) for natural gas.
The higher lifting target is based on government calculations regarding declining production from aging oil wells.
“While we are working to boost lifting, we also need to manage the ongoing decline. Based on this, we are proposing around 605 thousand to 610 thousand bpd target to Commission XII,” Lahadalia addressed.
