Jakarta (ANTARA) - Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono on Wednesday said that fisheries production in the first quarter of 2025 rose 2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

“Fisheries production, based on provisional figures, until March 30, 2025, reached 5.58 million tons,” Trenggono told Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR) during a working meeting at the Senayan Parliament Complex in Jakarta.

“If seen in depth in the first quarter of 2025, it grew by 2.0 percent compared to the same period in 2024,” he added.

He said that the positive trend was supported by an increase of 3 percent in the production of cultivated fish, a 2.2-percent rise in seaweed production, and 0.7-percent growth in capture fisheries production.

Trenggono further said that the average fishermen’s exchange rate (NTN) in May 2025 showed 1.8 percent growth compared to May 2024.

Meanwhile, the average fish farmer’s exchange rate (NTPi) in May 2025 also recorded an increase of 1.4 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2024.

“Both showed growth compared to May the previous year,” he said.

Trenggono informed that a positive trend was also witnessed in marine and fishery product exports, with the export value of fishery products swelling 6.5 percent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the first quarter of 2024.

“The volume of fishery product exports in the first quarter of 2025 also experienced a growth of 2.3 percent compared to the first quarter of last year,” he said.

Meanwhile, the realization of the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Ministry’s non-tax state revenue (PNBP) as of June 2025 was 13 percent higher compared to the year-ago period.

In June 2024, the ministry’s PNBP was recorded at Rp861.76 billion (US$53 million), while in June 2025, it stood at Rp975.74 billion (US$60 million).
