Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) have jointly called on the international community to take concrete steps to end the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

The strong appeal was delivered in a joint statement issued by both countries at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, July 2.

In addition to addressing the crisis in Gaza, the two leaders underscored the need to advance lasting peace in the broader Middle East.

The statement outlined shared views on a range of regional and global issues, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to strengthening coordination and actively contributing to global peace and security.

Indonesia and Saudi Arabia expressed deep concern over the situation in Gaza and reiterated their commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.

They urged the international community to act swiftly to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s population, to unequivocally condemn the use of blockades and starvation as weapons of war, and to oppose all forms of forced displacement of Palestinians — both within and beyond their homeland.

“Achieving security and stability in Palestine can only be realized through the implementation of international resolutions concerning the two-state solution, ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the joint statement said.

Prabowo and MBS also welcomed the recent announcement of a ceasefire between conflicting parties in the region and expressed hope it would hold.

On Yemen, both leaders voiced full support for a peaceful political resolution and efforts to maintain stability in the Red Sea region.

They also welcomed the lifting of sanctions on Syria by the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union, describing it as a positive step toward reconstruction, regional stability, and the return of refugees.

Regarding the conflict in Sudan, the two leaders emphasized the need to continue peaceful dialogue through the Jeddah Forum to reach a full ceasefire and end the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
