“The launch of this SPAM aims to help residents access clean and safe water as a basic necessity,” Head of the West Aceh Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) Dr. Kurdi said in Meulaboh on Thursday.
The system was inaugurated earlier by West Aceh Regent Tarmizi, SP, MM, along with Vice Regent Said Fadheil, SH, during a ceremony attended by local officials, including the members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), DPRK, and civil society.
Kurdi said that the drinking water system has now been fully connected to 50 homes as part of the government’s effort to provide clean water to rural communities.

He added that the project reflects the regional government’s commitment to improving access to basic public services such as clean water.
In addition to households, the water system also supplies several public facilities in Pucok Reudeup Village, including places of worship.
The SPAM infrastructure was constructed during the 2024 fiscal year and completed in December. It officially became operational in 2025.
Earlier, the district head Tarmizi emphasized that the development of SPAM in remote and isolated areas is a clear sign of the government’s commitment to meeting the basic needs of the people.
The West Aceh administration also urged residents to use the clean water facilities wisely and take collective responsibility to maintain them for long-term use.
