Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy is exploring strategic collaboration with France in the film industry, including in co-production, exchange of talents, and creative training.

“As part of our strategic efforts to encourage cross-border partnership and investment in the creative economy sector, we welcome the collaboration opportunities,” Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky said in a statement received here on Saturday.

The collaboration was explored during a meeting between Minister Riefky and the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, and delegates of Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) in Jakarta on Thursday.

The CNC is a public administration agency under the French Ministry of Culture that is responsible for the production and promotion of cinematic and audiovisual arts in France.

The meeting marked the commitment of both countries to strengthen strategic cooperation in the film industry, as well as a follow-up to an MoU inked by the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy and the French Ministry of Culture.

Earlier, at the end of May 2025, the Indonesian and French governments had discussed concrete steps for the implementation of the MoU in the creative economy sector.

According to Riefky, international partnerships are essential to encourage the growth of the national film industry and help it open up global market access.

The meeting on Thursday was held as part of preparations for the Indonesia’s official visit to France in July to attend the Bastille Day celebration, a bilateral meeting with the French Minister of Culture, and a visit to one of the leading film schools in Europe.

Ambassador Penone expressed his commitment to building long-term partnerships that are based on mutual trust, joint funding, and concrete projects that have a direct impact on both countries’ creative industry players.

Meanwhile, CNC president Gaëtan Bruel emphasized the importance of cooperation in creating economic value, strengthening cultural identities, and building national strength.
