Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA) - The South Sumatra Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Office has facilitated around 300 MSMEs in the local province to obtain halal certification until July 2025.

"Some MSMEs are facilitated to obtain halal certification for free, and some are only given assistance," Head of the South Sumatra Cooperatives and MSMEs Office Amiruddin stated in Palembang city, South Sumatra Province, on Saturday.

He explained that MSMEs received free self-declared halal certification, which is intended for a product with one type of food that is easily recognized and whose halalness can be ascertained.

Meanwhile, MSMEs bear all costs required to obtain regular halal certification for catering services or restaurants that serve various types of food, because the office only provides assistance to meet the issuance requirements.

"Come on, MSMEs, take care of your product's halal certification. This certification is necessary to increase customer trust in MSME products in the province with 17 districts and cities," he said.

He expressed the hope that the local MSMEs could immediately prepare the application files and supporting requirements so that the issuance of halal certification for their businesses can be approved.

Halal certification needs to be taken care of immediately, because the Indonesian government requires all MSMEs nationwide to have halal certification by 2026.
