"Crews are still battling fires in several locations," Acting Head of the Aceh Barat District BPBD, Teuku Ronal Nehdiansyah, stated in Meulaboh on Tuesday.
The land currently recorded as burned in Aceh Barat District includes six hectares in Johan Pahlawan Sub-district, comprising approximately three hectares in Lapang Village, about one hectare in Ujong Beurasok Lapang, and around two hectares in Suak Raya Village.
Furthermore, roughly two hectares of land have burned in Karang Hampa Village, Arongan Lambalek Sub-district, and one hectare in Mon Pasong Village, West Woyla Sub-district.
Nehdiansyah stated that the lack of water sources is one of the obstacles to extinguishing out the fires.
Additionally, difficult road access to the fire site poses a challenge for officers in the field.
"However, efforts to extinguish the fire are continuing," he remarked.
To facilitate firefighting efforts, the Aceh Barat BPBD has also deployed several firefighting vehicles, including a D-Max vehicle and a 010 vehicle from the Aceh Barat BPBD Headquarters (Mako BPBD), a Panther pickup truck, a Kohler engine, and an Excel engine.
Nehdiansyah explained that the firefighting team consists of officers from the West Aceh BPBD Headquarters, personnel from the Arongan Lambalek Fire Department, personnel from the Woyla Fire Department, and Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel from the Johan Pahlawan Military District Command (Koramil).
The BPBD has also involved personnel from the Johan Pahlawan Sector Police, the Arongan Lambalek Military District Command (Koramil), and the Arongan Lambalek Police Department, as well as local residents living near the fire site.
