Jakarta (ANTARA) - Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has emphasized the importance of improving environmental quality to ensure optimal child development to support Indonesia's demographic bonus.

"It is crucial to ensure and enhance the quality of growth for Indonesia’s young generation by providing a healthy environment," he remarked here on Wednesday.

According to Nurofiq, a healthy environment is crucial for supporting child development. Such an environment helps reduce the risk of infections and other threats that may hinder a child’s growth, he added.

He made the remarks at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Environment (KLH) and the Ministry of Population and Family Development on Wednesday.

He noted that a healthy environment supports the growth of a generation that is healthy, intelligent, and globally competitive, which is a vital factor as Indonesia enters a demographic bonus period, where the productive-age population exceeds other age groups.

"Therefore, it is important for us to collaborate and support one another in formulating policies and taking actions that prioritize a sustainable and healthy environment for both the current and future generations," he remarked.

As a concrete measure, the Environment Ministry and Population and Family Development Ministry are collaborating to accelerate the implementation of the TAMASYA child daycare program, which will be included as a requirement for the 2025 Corporate Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management (PROPER).

Nurofiq explained that companies seeking the Gold rating in this year’s PROPER assessment must implement the TAMASYA program. One of the criteria includes providing childcare facilities to support working parents while ensuring proper care for their children.

The cooperation was established through the signing of an MoU between Minister Nurofiq and Minister of Population and Family Development Wihaji.
