The suspects, identified by their initials as S (42), J (37), and R (37), were nabbed from a shopping mall area in BSD, Tangerang district, and an apartment in Cisauk, South Tangerang district, police said.
According to Commissioner Deny Simanjuntak from the Jakarta Police’s Narcotics Investigation Division, S and J were nabbed based on a tip from the public.
Following their arrest in a shopping mall area on Tuesday, R was nabbed in an apartment in South Tangerang on Wednesday, he said.
The police also confiscated two packets of crystal meth weighing more than one kilogram that R had concealed in his apartment unit, Simanjuntak informed, adding that the probe into the drug case is on.
Indonesia continues to be a key target for international drug syndicates due to its large population and growing number of drug users.
As per the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the number of drug addicts in Indonesia has reached 3.3 million, while the economic cost of drug smuggling has been recorded at Rp500 trillion.
