Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and the two-state solution for the Palestine-Israel conflict during a dinner in Paris, France, on Monday night local time.

"We touched upon various strategic issues as part of efforts to strengthen our countries’ bilateral ties and find solutions to global problems, including the Israel-Palestine conflict," Prabowo remarked in a voice note cited in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He emphasized that France had provided significant support for Indonesia’s relations with Europe through productive cooperation.

On global concerns, the Indonesian head of state confirmed that he and President Macron made the most of the dinner, which took place at the Elysee Palace, to seek the best solutions to the prolonged conflict in Palestine.

He underlined that Indonesia and France share the same stance on the need for fair and peaceful means to achieve lasting peace, highlighting the two-state solution.

"France supports the two-state solution," the president emphasized.

President Macron hosted Prabowo for a private dinner at the palace after they jointly observed the 2025 Bastille Day military parade, led by an Indonesian troop, in Paris earlier that day.

As broadcast by his secretariat, Prabowo received a welcome ceremony featuring a drum band and guards of honor upon his arrival at the palace. He was greeted with a handshake by Macron, who then escorted him inside.

At the palace entrance, the two leaders posed for photos. Prabowo also greeted journalists gathered in the palace courtyard.

Based on pictures shared by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo and Macron were seated face-to-face at a roundtable set for just the two of them. They engaged in a cordial discussion while waiting for their meals.

Noticing the unfamiliar setting, Prabowo asked Macron whether he had hosted him for dinner there before. Macron confirmed that Prabowo had indeed visited the venue previously.

The dinner took place behind closed doors.
