He expressed hope that this cooperation would help raise public awareness of the importance of proper waste management.
“I hope that with support from the 41 campuses here, we will be able to shift our nation’s perception on environmental issues, particularly waste management, for the better,” Nurrofiq stated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology urged all higher education institutions across Indonesia to help build environmental awareness, starting within their own academic communities.
“Campuses have a strategic role in addressing waste issues. While awareness of anti-littering is increasing, we are still witnessing poorly managed waste,” Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Fauzan stated on March 16.
Bearing this in mind, he urged universities to actively seek solutions to the waste issues visible in society.
He made the statements during an event commemorating National Waste Care Day 2025 in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.
