Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has urged the National Economic Council (DEN) to prepare concrete measures to maintain resilience and accelerate national economic growth, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed on Thursday.

The President gave the instruction during a meeting with DEN chairperson Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and DEN members in Bogor, West Java, the same day.

“The President gave a direction that amid global economic uncertainty, we must stay alert and prepare concrete steps to maintain resilience and accelerate national economic growth,” Wijaya said when contacted here.

The DEN told Prabowo that the global situation is full of uncertainty, requiring vigilance and readiness to anticipate any risks and disruptions that could threaten Indonesia’s economy.

Wijaya said that during the meeting, the DEN highlighted that national economic growth is projected to be higher than in other countries, given Indonesia’s strong and solid economic fundamentals.

“Indonesia’s successful trade negotiations with the United States present a strategic opportunity, particularly to encourage exports and investment in labor-intensive sectors that contribute significantly to job creation,” he added.

At Thursday’s meeting, the DEN also underscored that deregulation remains key, both at the central and regional levels.

“Deregulation will serve as a catalyst to accelerate economic growth that is inclusive and sustainable,” Wijaya, who also attended the meeting, added.
