Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) Directorate of Women and Children Protection and the Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA and PPO) held an outreach event to engage Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong and listen to their aspirations.

Director of PPA and PPO Brigadier General Nurul Azizah said in a Polri statement received here on Sunday that besides gathering aspirations, her side also had the opportunity to directly hear the challenges faced by Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong.

In addition, her side provided legal education, promoted protection measures for women and children, and shared about efforts to prevent human trafficking.

After hearing the stories of the migrant workers, Azizah praised their spirit and resilience as they work while pursuing education for self-development.

“Many among them have successfully completed their studies and graduated. This is an extraordinary achievement that deserves appreciation,” she said.

Through this activity, she expressed hope Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong will feel increasingly protected, have their voices heard, and grow closer to the police institution.

She also emphasized that this event demonstrates the Polri's commitment to providing comprehensive protection for Indonesian citizens abroad while strengthening ties between the police and migrant communities.

“The police are present here to ensure migrant workers receive proper legal protection. Our presence also reflects concrete public service not only domestically but also for Indonesians abroad,” she said.

According to the National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas), the formation of the Polri Directorate of Women and Children Protection and the Eradication of Human Trafficking on December 17, 2024, is a reflection of the law enforcement institution's commitment to ensuring justice for women, children, and vulnerable groups.
