“We are discussing whether the Indonesian aid supplies can be airdropped by using drones into Gaza with the government’s representatives,” the BSMI medical team leader, Basuki Supartono, said in Jakarta on Monday.
If the government approves the airdrop, the BSMI is ready to become its partner for the mission, he informed at a press conference on the BSMI’s fourth deployment of specialist doctors to the Gaza Strip.
Once the government’s approval comes through, BSMI’s volunteers in Jordan will pack the aid packages for drone delivery, he said.
Supartono also urged the Indonesian government and other parties to pressure Israel to end the genocide in Gaza, stressing the malnutrition crisis among children in the enclave.
“So, Israel must put an immediate end to its genocide and withdraw its tanks from Gaza because children and people at large cannot eat, cannot move freely, cannot get healthcare, and cannot go to school,” he said.
The community of nations must expel the colonizers from Gaza and help the Palestinians return to normal life, he added.
