Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto expressed hope that the Free Health Screening (CKG) program would reach at least 20 million beneficiaries by August 17, coinciding with Indonesia's Independence Day commemoration.

After meeting with the President at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin reported that the president was pleased that the free health screening program had covered 17 million beneficiaries so far.

In addition to the CKG program, Minister Sadikin reported that the construction of hospitals in remote areas is also a key focus.

He explained that of the 32 hospitals planned to be built, groundbreaking ceremonies have already been held for 22, with construction on the rest expected in the second half of this year.

"It is hoped that maybe 12 to 15 hospitals will be completed this year," he remarked.

In his report to the president, the minister expressed the public's high appreciation for the construction of hospitals in several remote areas, such as Reda Bolo, Borong, Konawe, Buton, Anambas, Taliabu, and Nias.

In the near future, President Prabowo is also scheduled to inaugurate large hospitals in Jayapura, Jakarta, and Solo, which are part of the transformation of the national health service infrastructure.

The Indonesian government rolled out the CKG program on February 10, 2025, aimed at improving the health quality of Indonesians and reducing the burden caused by preventable diseases.

Meanwhile, the program's implementation at schools began on Monday (August 4), designed to reach every child in the nation without exception, in line with the principle of no one left behind.

With a target of reaching 280 million citizens nationwide, the health screening program is projected to become one of the largest in the world.
