"We want the results of research and scientific knowledge development to go beyond just ending as knowledge. We aim to push further so that these research efforts and developments can contribute economically," Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, remarked here on Thursday.
The minister underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that research conducted by the nation's talents helps solve various problems in the industrial sector.
"This is a convention of scientists. Some 1,066 top STEM researchers attended, along with 401 university rectors and vice-rectors from public and private universities, 351 STEM lecturers, 26 members of the diaspora, doctoral students, professors, and academic senates," he stated.
On this occasion, Yuliarto explained that a roadmap for research and technological innovation in Indonesia will be developed, alongside the exhibition of over 400 research products linked to the industrial sector.
Through this initiative, he expressed hope that domestic research products would be upgraded and eventually lead to the emergence of new science and technology-based industries.
"This convention is also attended by two Nobel laureates. It is an honorable moment, as we seek to draw inspiration from how world-class research is. We want to encourage Indonesian researchers and scientists to dream big and take inspiration from the Nobel laureates," Yuliarto affirmed.
KSTI 2025 is held on August 7-9, 2025. The event brings together more than 350 university leaders from across Indonesia and one thousand of the country’s top researchers.
The convention focuses on integrating research, higher education, and industry across eight priority sectors: food, energy, health, defense, maritime, downstream and industrialization, digitalization (including AI and semiconductors), as well as advanced materials and manufacturing.
