Secretary General of PMI A. M. Fachir stated here on Friday that the aid can improve MRCS' capacity for emergency response, particularly in dealing with natural disasters like the earthquake which recently shook that nation.
He stated that MRCS has dispatched volunteers and resources to assist victims by providing first aid and supporting their recovery efforts. Those initiatives represent MRCS' commitment to humanitarian services, Fachir noted.
"We also laud the Embassy of Indonesia in Yangon for their strong support and coordination in distributing this aid," he remarked.
The donation was handed over by the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon, Muhammad Arif Hidayatullah, to the President of the Myanmar Red Cross Myo Nyunt, on Thursday, August 7, in Yangon, Myanmar.
Fachir emphasized that the collaboration between PMI and MRCS exemplifies the close partnership under the framework of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
He underlined PMI's commitment to upholding humanitarian principles and pursuing collaboration among the societies in the region.
Moreover, he highlighted the important role of the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon in coordinating and facilitating the donation process, ensuring transparency so that aid distribution aligns with local needs.
The Indonesian government commends the unwavering dedication of MRCS to humanity and takes pride in contributing to their emergency response operation during these crucial times.
"Indonesia remains steadfast in standing with the Myanmar people in these trying times," Fachir remarked.
