"In addition to streamlining distribution chains, KDMP operations are also expected to lead to lower prices of staple goods," Indrawati stated via her Instagram account @smindrawati, as cited in Jakarta on Monday.
The minister further noted that the government envisions such cooperatives to boost farmers' exchange rate, create up to two million job opportunities, and enable more young people, women, and disabled individuals to contribute to rural economies.
Bearing these favorable projections in mind, the state treasurer assured the public that the KDMP program will continue into next year.
"This is among the priority programs we will continue in 2026. It is time for villages to make a move, emerging as new sources of hope," Indrawati remarked.
President Prabowo Subianto launched the KDMP program as a means to strengthen rural economies, make essential goods and services more accessible and affordable, and protect rural residents from predatory loan sharks and exploitative middlemen.
On July 21, he inaugurated over 80 thousand cooperatives nationwide under the program.
Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara, in a statement on Monday, said that village cooperatives are encouraged to make the most of government financing schemes offered through state-run banks.
Speaking after reviewing a KDMP in Gadungan Village, Tabanan District, Bali, he emphasized the importance of good business planning before accessing available financing options.
He highlighted that the Ministry of Finance is committed to fully supporting the operation of village cooperatives, including through Finance Minister's Regulation No. 49 of 2025, which outlines procedures for KDMPs to obtain capital loans.
Furthermore, he underlined that the national program demonstrates the government's commitment to building an inclusive and sustainable economy across the country.
