“President Prabowo wants every citizen to experience the true meaning of independence, without exception. One way to achieve this is by ensuring that every Indonesian family has access to decent housing,” Ujang Komarudin, Senior Expert Staff at the PCO, noted in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Komarudin explained that the noble goal of the three million houses construction and renovation program is to provide proper housing for those living in extreme poverty, the poor, and the lower-middle class, while also narrowing the gap between urban, rural, and coastal communities.
In addition to tackling inequality, this flagship Quick-Win Program (PHTC) of President Prabowo aims to tackle the country’s housing backlog. The program responds to the needs of approximately 9.9 million families who currently do not own a house and aims to renovate around 26.9 million houses that are currently uninhabitable.

The implementation strategy includes renovating two million uninhabitable houses in rural areas, the construction of one million new houses in urban areas through strategic partnerships with the private sector, and revitalizing coastal settlements by developing disaster-resilient housing.
Komarudin remarked that the program also seeks to control land prices and manage spatial planning. This will involve directing subsidies to help normalize land prices and regulating zoning and residential locations to prevent housing from being pushed farther away from economic hubs.
“The main goal is to improve the quality of life and empower the local economy. Housing development projects will be accompanied by improvements to basic infrastructure, such as roads, electricity, and clean water,” he stated.
The three million houses program is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which focuses on continuing infrastructure development and building from villages upward to promote economic equity.
It aims to provide decent, affordable, and sustainable housing for all Indonesians, particularly low-income families.
