Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that the Free Nutritional Meals Program (MBG) has successfully boosted economic growth in villages while improving student attendance and academic performance in schools.

“Children’s school attendance has increased, and their academic achievement has also improved,” Prabowo stated at the 2025 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday.

He noted that as of today, there are 5,800 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) operating across 38 provinces, contributing to village-level economic growth.

In addition to improving the nutrition of 82 million children and pregnant women, the program has created 290,000 new jobs and stimulated the agricultural, fisheries, livestock, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sectors in the regions.

Prabowo credited the program’s success to strong support from multiple stakeholders, including the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), community organizations, and cooperatives.

He stressed that the MBG Program is not merely a social initiative but a long-term strategy to develop high-quality human resources.

“We must recognize that our nation has the capability if we have the will and work together,” he said.
