Presenting the 2026 State Budget Bill before members of parliament in Jakarta on Friday, Prabowo said that a superior generation can only emerge from healthy children with adequate nutrition.
"We are building a superior generation through MBG. A superior generation is born from healthy bodies with proper nutrition," he stated.
The president set a target for the program to reach 82.9 million children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers nationwide. This will be supported by the expansion of MBG kitchens to ensure optimal nutritional intake.
"We are eliminating stunting as quickly as possible. The MBG program has been implemented in all provinces and will continue to expand to every corner of the country," he said.
Prabowo stressed that, beyond improving children's nutrition and the quality of future human resources, the program would also stimulate the national economy.
Launched in January, MBG is expected to empower millions of farmers, fishers, livestock breeders, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); create hundreds of thousands of jobs; and strengthen local economies across regions.
Through state budget funding, Indonesia aims to provide adequate nutrition, particularly for communities with limited access to healthy food. As of the first half of 2025, Rp5 trillion had been disbursed for MBG, supporting 1,863 kitchens.
The number of target beneficiaries has since increased from 17.9 million to 82.9 million people, served through about 30,000 kitchens.
