"We appreciate President Prabowo Subianto's political will to focus on developing quality human resources, encouraging large businesses to care about the nation, fully supporting ordinary people, upholding national sovereignty, and other policy breakthroughs based on Astacita (the government’s eight priority goals)," he said here on Saturday.
He stressed that Indonesian independence is not merely an annual ceremony, but a historical mandate that must be continuously upheld so that the noble vision of the nation’s founders to advance education and the economy can be realized.
"Praise be to God, over the 80 years of Indonesian independence, there has been much progress in various areas of life. Education, health, social, political, economic, religious, and other aspects of life offer much hope for Indonesia's future," he said.
Nashir reminded the younger generation, especially millennials and Gen Z, that they are the nation’s hope to carry forward Indonesia’s struggle in the new era of complex post-modern life.
He expressed hope that the President’s political steps and policies will genuinely drive progress for the nation. He emphasized that these policy directions must be fully implemented for the sake of a united, sovereign, and prosperous Indonesia.
The Professor of Sociology at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta further underlined that the President's political courage must not remain at the level of discourse but must be followed by concrete action from ministries and government institutions.
"Most importantly, all ministries and government institutions, down to the regional level, must follow the President's lead, paving the way for a new path and hope for a more advanced future for Indonesia after 80 years of independence," Nashir said.
He also reminded that Indonesian independence was achieved through a long and sacrificial struggle and called on government elites to make the constitutional mandate their primary guideline.
"The people's mandate is not a means for self-enrichment but a call to serve," he said. "Especially for the country’s top officials across all government structures, make Indonesia's independence a mandate to serve wholeheartedly in carrying out the constitutional mandate. Protect all Indonesians with full responsibility to provide services, not demand them."
Amid increasingly complex global challenges, Nashir stressed that political commitment oriented towards the people and human resource development is key.
He invited all parties to make independence not just a symbol, but a real movement toward a developed Indonesia.
"Let’s realize an Indonesia that is united, sovereign, prosperous, and advanced, as the theme of this year’s 80th anniversary of independence," Nashir said.
