BNPB Head Suharyanto reported that of the total victims, 13 were referred to Poso Regional Hospital — among them two in critical condition — while six others were taken to Tokorondo Community Health Center.
"One worship facility, the Elim Church in Masani Village, was also reported to be damaged," he stated.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake struck at 5:38 a.m. local time, with its epicenter located on land at a depth of 10 kilometers, about 18 kilometers northwest of Poso.
Residents in Poso Pesisir Sub-district felt the tremors for approximately 15 seconds, including those in the villages of Masani, Tokorondo, Towu, Pinedapa, Tangkura, and Lape. Many rushed out of their homes to seek safety.
A moderate tremor was also felt for seven seconds in Sigi District, though no reports of damage or casualties have been received.
Suharyanto instructed his team to immediately strengthen coordination with regional agencies, provide on-site assistance, and ensure rapid emergency response. Urgent needs reported so far include tents and medical supplies.
"The public must remain calm and alert to potential aftershocks, seek safe places, avoid cracked buildings, and prepare emergency kits with basic necessities," he urged.
BMKG later reported that 10 aftershocks had occurred following the main earthquake.
"As of 7:10 a.m. local time, there had been 10 aftershocks," said BMKG Director for Earthquake and Tsunami, Daryono, in a statement.
He noted that the strongest aftershock measured 3.2 in magnitude, with the rest averaging around 2.0.
"Modeling results indicate that the earthquake has no potential to trigger a tsunami," Daryono added.
