Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan stated that relevant ministries and institutions have expedited coordination to finalize a series of supporting regulations to accelerate the operational activities of the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMPs).

"All regulations, including the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK), have been completed, and the derivative regulations will be completed today. The business model was also completed earlier, and the Minister of Village Regulation (Permendes) has been completed," he said during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He stated that the Ministry of Manpower has also prepared a system and training for prospective KDMP administrators.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) was assisting with technical regulations regarding Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) to be assigned to KDMP.

According to him, two or three local government employees with work contracts would assist in running the village cooperative.

"So, all the preparations were carried out like a marathon," he said.

Hasan stated that efforts to strengthen regulations between relevant ministries and institutions were being undertaken to achieve the target of 15 thousand of the 80 thousand KDMPs to begin operating in August.

"Therefore, we have made an agenda to start operations for around 15,000 (cooperatives) this month," he said.

He stated that the KDMP's presence is crucial as a government infrastructure for distributing aid, conducting market operations, streamlining supply chains, and eliminating loan sharks and middlemen in villages.

"It will also act as an offtaker for agricultural products such as unhusked rice and corn," he added.
