In a statement issued Wednesday, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the four-hour meeting focused on the regulation of forest areas and the issue of illegal mining.
"During the meeting, President Prabowo requested updates on developments concerning the regulation of forest areas and illegal mining activities," Wijaya said.
According to Wijaya, the meeting was a follow-up to the President’s directive delivered during his State Address at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) on Friday (August 15).
In that address, President Prabowo emphasized his commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of Indonesia’s natural resources.
In his speech, the President affirmed that the law applies equally to all individuals, regardless of wealth or power.
He also stressed the state's responsibility to protect both the interests of the people and the environment.
Wijaya added that President Prabowo is determined to ensure effective coordination among ministries and institutions to implement enforcement measures that are both firm and sustainable.
Attending the meeting were the Coordinating Minister for Food, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of State Secretary, the Attorney General, the Chief of Police, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
As previously reported, President Prabowo is committed to securing potential state assets valued at 300 trillion rupiahs (17 billion US dollars) by regulating 1,063 illegal mining sites across Indonesia.
In his State Address, he also called for support from the MPR, DPR, and political parties for the government's decisive actions on the matter.
He reminded party cadres, including those from the Gerindra Party, to refrain from involvement in illegal mining activities, stating that he would not shield anyone—regardless of rank or affiliation.
Furthermore, he issued a stern warning to TNI and police generals found to be protecting illegal mining operations, asserting that the government would take firm action in defense of the people.
