Jayawijaya, Highland Papua (ANTARA) - A peace task force from the Infantry Battalion 521/Dadaha Yudha of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) distributed free, decent clothing to residents in Benawa, Yalimo District, Highland Papua, as part of efforts to build closer ties with local communities.

As quoted in a statement released in Jayawijaya District, Highland Papua Province, on Sunday, commander of the task force Lieutenant Colonel Rahadyan Surya Murdata noted that his team had consistently carried out such social missions to reach people living in the province's interior regions.

"We prioritize distributing wearable clothing to children and residents who are truly in need so that they can dress properly," he said.

Murdata expressed hope that by adopting this humane approach, the TNI could deepen its bonds with Papuans and create mutual trust.

"We at the TNI are certainly expecting a sound level of communication with people within our deployment region. That kind of relationship can help us maintain security and stability in the area," he stated.

The commander went on to explain that the task force would continue to organize community-oriented initiatives as a way to promote peace and safeguard stability in Indonesia's Papua region.

"Our social activities involve visits to the villages we are assigned to in a bid to build personal ties with locals while distributing proper clothing," Murdata explained.

In addition to clothing, the task force has also offered free medical services and even handed out candies.

The officer reiterated that such activities form part of the TNI’s ongoing efforts to fully understand the realities of local communities, help them meet their basic needs, and earn their trust as guardians.
