“The SPHP program will distribute 52,400 tons of corn to layer farmers across Indonesia,” Arief said in Jakarta.
The corn will be sourced from government reserves (CHP) managed by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) and sold at Rp5,500 (around USD0.36) per kilogram to ensure affordable feed for farmers.
Lower feed prices are expected to cut production costs and help stabilize retail egg prices through the end of the year, he added.
“This initiative ensures farmers can produce eggs at a good price, helping both producers and consumers,” Arief said.

Agung Suganda, director general of Animal Husbandry and Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, noted that his office is working with the Food Task Force to oversee distribution and shield farmers from feed price volatility.
He acknowledged rising corn prices in key production areas over the past month, which have put pressure on poultry farmers.
In response, the Ministry of Agriculture is coordinating with Bapanas, the Food Task Force, and other agencies to ensure supply and affordability.
Suganda said the government has taken several steps to control animal feed prices. These include urging the feed industry to avoid price hikes, identifying eligible livestock farmers to receive subsidized corn, and linking farmer groups directly with suppliers.
Corn availability for feed remains a top government concern as it impacts food security and inflation in the poultry sector.
