Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has dismissed Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan and will appoint an interim replacement soon, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said.

Gunawan’s removal from the Red and White Cabinet was formalized through Presidential Decree No. 86P of 2025, Hadi told reporters after a swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

“The president hasn’t named a permanent replacement yet, so an acting minister will be appointed shortly,” said Hadi, who also serves as the president’s spokesperson.

Hadi declined to reveal the interim minister or potential candidates. “Please wait for the official announcement,” he said.

When asked whether Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin would step in temporarily, Hadi did not confirm.

“We can’t comment on that yet,” he added.

Prabowo announced the dismissal of Gunawan and Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo during Monday’s inauguration of four new ministers: Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Migrant Workers Protection Minister Mukhtarudin, Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono, and Hajj and Umrah Minister Irfan Yusuf Hasyim.

Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak was sworn in as deputy minister of the newly formed Hajj and Umrah Ministry, which will take over pilgrimage responsibilities from the Religious Affairs Ministry starting next year.

Hadi said Ariotedjo’s successor could not attend the ceremony due to being out of town, but did not provide further details.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and several high-ranking officials were present at the event, marking the second Cabinet reshuffle this year.

The first took place in February when Satryo Brodjonegoro was replaced by Brian Yuliarto as Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
