Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf announced that the ministry has disbursed over Rp2 billion (approximately US$117,000) in logistical support and aid for victims of the Bali floods.

“We’ve distributed more than Rp2 billion in Bali, covering logistics and direct assistance,” he said during a visit to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar on Friday, where he met with one of the flood survivors.

He explained that the aid is being distributed across Bali, based on assessed needs and data collected from affected communities. The hardest-hit areas include Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Jembrana.

“All victims will receive Rp15 million in compensation in the event of death, and Rp5 million for those injured. In addition to that, we’re providing logistical support,” Yusuf added.

The logistical aid includes tents, food and beverages, maternal and child care supplies, and essential medicines.

Yusuf also emphasized the central government’s commitment to disaster response, noting that President Prabowo has issued direct instructions to his staff.

His ministry will ensure the availability of evacuation resources during the initial emergency phase, while reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts will follow in subsequent stages.

“We’re actively supporting this emergency response. We’ve set up public kitchens, refugee shelters, and psychosocial services for children and the elderly who require counseling. We’re also providing compensation for the deceased and injured,” he said.

If additional aid arrives from the public or local governments, resulting in overlapping assistance, Yusuf believes it won’t pose a problem, as each region has its own disaster relief budget.

“There will be an evacuation phase, followed by an emergency response, and then a rehabilitation phase. Rehabilitation will include assessing property damage. The government will implement programs for this, coordinated with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB),” he concluded.
