The close friendship between Qatar and Indonesia motivates us to support various sectors, including housing development,
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) and Qatari investor Al Qilaa International Group (Al Qilaa), is set to develop vertical housing to help realize the construction of 3 million homes for the community.

President Director of PT KAI, Bobby Rasyidin, stated at the pre-cooperation launch for the 3 Million Houses Development Program in Jakarta on Wednesday that the collaboration represents a strategic step to optimize KAI’s land assets through a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) concept.

“We are committed to supporting the Indonesian government’s 3 Million Houses Program by providing affordable and quality housing, while ensuring all cooperation is carried out transparently, accountably, and based on good corporate governance (GCG) principles,” said Bobby.

This partnership initiative follows the investment project launched by Qatar-based Al Qilaa Group to build one million vertical housing units with the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas in June.

Al Qilaa International Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to constructing one million homes in Indonesia as part of President Prabowo Subianto’s 3 Million Houses Program.

“As a follow-up to the launch of the One Million Vertical Housing Investment Project last June, PT Al Qilaa International Indonesia and KAI, in collaboration with Qatari investor Al Qilaa, have initiated the pre-cooperation launch for the 3 Million Houses Development Program in Indonesia,” Bobby remarked.

The strategic collaboration plans to begin with the construction of 50,000 housing units on PT KAI land as part of a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area.

The initial phase will be built in Kampung Bandan, Kemayoran, DKI Jakarta Province, demonstrating a joint commitment to national development and strengthening investment relations between Indonesia and Qatar.

The project will feature vertical housing in the form of smart towers that integrate modern residential concepts with supporting facilities such as schools, playgrounds, communal spaces, and smart home systems to enhance residents’ quality of life.

The partnership agreement was signed by Al Qilaa Global Group Chairman Abdulaziz Al Thani and PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin, witnessed by Housing Task Force Chairman Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo.

Abdulaziz Al Thani stated that the cooperation reflects a serious commitment to supporting housing provision for Indonesians, in line with President Prabowo’s 3 Million Houses Program.

“This project is not just about building homes but creating a sustainable housing ecosystem that supports community life,” Abdulaziz said.

“We are very enthusiastic about contributing to this monumental project. The close friendship between Qatar and Indonesia motivates us to support various sectors, including housing development,” he added.

“With KAI’s support, I hope this project can be realized soon and bring tangible benefits to the people of Indonesia,” Abdulaziz concluded.

Housing Task Force Chairman Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo emphasized that the 3 Million Houses Program is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s main commitments to improving Indonesian welfare.

Hashim said the collaboration between Al Qilaa and KAI is a concrete step toward achieving this vision. By combining global investment and national assets, the partnership not only provides housing but also builds inclusive and sustainable communities for future generations.

To realize this project, Al Qilaa has formed a consortium with local and international partners, including the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, Bank BTN, and the Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara).

The project contractors are the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) consortium and PT Risjadson Land, with Epic Property serving as the marketing agency.
