Jakarta (ANTARA) -

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday chaired a meeting with economic ministers and agency heads to discuss strategic initiatives in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in an Instagram post that the meeting was held at the president's residence in Hambalang, West Java.

In agriculture, Prabowo stressed the urgency of tackling challenges in cassava, tapioca, and sweet potato production. Efforts will involve coordination with regional authorities and industry players, with a strong focus on improving farmers' welfare.

On energy, discussions included molasses-based production from sugarcane byproducts and expanding rural electrification through solar power.

Prabowo instructed sovereign wealth fund Danantara to develop a prototype for solar-powered rural electricity systems, targeted for deployment in select regions within three to five months.

The president also reviewed plans for a giant sea wall along Java’s northern coast, a project expected to affect around 50 million residents.

The initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to strengthen infrastructure resilience and protect coastal areas from erosion and climate change impacts.

"The President has directed Danantara to prepare a solar-powered rural electricity prototype," Wijaya said.

He added that the meeting reflects Indonesia's push to integrate agricultural modernization, renewable energy expansion, and large-scale infrastructure development to address economic and environmental challenges simultaneously.
