Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi revealed that the government is considering merging the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) into the sovereign wealth fund Danantara, although no official decision has been made.

“There is no final decision yet, so we will wait. It is a possibility, but still under review and discussion,” Hadi said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday, responding to questions about the merger option.

He explained that one key factor under discussion is Danantara’s current role in supervising and improving the management of SOEs.

Debate over the future of the SOEs Ministry has intensified alongside ongoing legislative deliberations in the House of Representatives (DPR).

Previously, Chairman of the DPR Legislative Body Bob Hasan stated that the institutional structure of the SOEs Ministry may change or even be dissolved.

He argued that Danantara is gradually assuming a more strategic role in managing state-owned assets.

According to him, the possibility of such a merger is increasing as both the SOEs Bill and the Danantara Bill are being discussed in parallel within the 2026 National Legislative Priority Program (Prolegnas).

He noted that, in the future, SOE management could shift to a new institutional body rather than remain under a ministry, aiming to centralize and strengthen the governance of state assets.

Danantara was officially launched by President Prabowo Subianto on February 24, 2025.

President Prabowo has described Danantara as a milestone in Indonesia's journey toward prosperity, resilience, and economic independence, calling it an instrument to optimize the management of national wealth for the people’s welfare.
