At a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, Acting Secretary-General of the National SEZ Council Rizal Edwin Manansang emphasized that the health-focused SEZ in Sanur, Bali, is not among Danantara’s funding priorities.
“I believe Danantara has no plans for the Sanur SEZ, which has already been inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto, as this zone focuses on health. We aim to direct Danantara’s funds to manufacturing SEZs,” he said.

He noted that the president has instructed his aides to ensure Danantara plays a role in supporting the growth of Indonesian SEZs.
“For now, our focus is on the manufacturing sector,” he reiterated, while leaving open the possibility of expanding funding to SEZs outside the sector.
He added that the government intends to channel Danantara’s funds to SEZs in eastern Indonesia where infrastructure remains underdeveloped.
“Several industrial SEZs in eastern regions are struggling to grow due to limited infrastructure and funding. Hence, Danantara will step in to help boost them,” Manansang stated.

Beyond eastern Indonesia, he said Danantara may also support the Sei Mangkei SEZ in North Sumatra and the Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan SEZ in East Kalimantan to advance crude palm oil (CPO) downstreaming.
“We may also give these SEZs a boost, given their huge potential in CPO downstreaming,” he noted.
Manansang further revealed plans for the SEZ National Council to meet with Danantara representatives to determine the exact amount of funding required for each targeted SEZ.
