Speaking at a press conference at the Presidential Palace’s press room in Jakarta on Friday, he expressed regret over the incidents.
“On behalf of the government and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), we sincerely apologize for the food-poisoning cases that occurred in some areas. These incidents were neither expected nor intentional,” he stated.
He emphasized that the government is actively working to address and resolve the situation.
For all affected recipients, Hadi explained, the National Nutrition Agency, in coordination with local governments, has provided a rapid and appropriate medical response.
In addition, the government has moved quickly to coordinate with BGN and regional administrations to conduct a comprehensive evaluation.
“This incident will serve as a point for evaluation. Mitigation and corrective measures are currently being carried out to ensure that such cases do not happen again,” he affirmed.
As part of these efforts, BGN is aiming for a zero-incident target by improving operational standards, including through the evaluation of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) or MBG kitchens.
Previously, the Garut Police in West Java said it was investigating the cause of a mass food-poisoning incident involving students in Kadungora Sub-district, Garut, to determine whether it was related to meals provided under the MBG program or other possible factors.
According to reports on Wednesday evening (September 17), a total of 194 students were affected. Of that number, 177 experienced mild symptoms, while 19 required more intensive treatment at the Kadungora Health Center.
