Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced eight main agendas for the commemoration of Santri (Islamic Students) Day, which will begin on September 22, 2025, and peak on October 25, 2025.

"The kickoff was held at Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren), Jombang," said the Ministry's Director General of Islamic Education, Amien Suyitno, here on Friday.

"There will be a seminar, along with the provision of Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and Free Health Checks (CKG) at a number of pesantrens around Tebuireng on September 22," he added.

Suyitno explained that the opening of the 2025 Santri Day series was not only a normative celebration, but the Ministry also held CKG and MBG as part of the contribution of pesantren to the nation.

Another agenda that will be held on Santri Day is Halaqah Astaloka or seminars at eight pesantrens across the country. At the event, the ministry will present a number of speakers from various scientific disciplines from September 22 to October 20, 2025.

The third event is the international Musabaqah Qiraatil Kutub (MQK) or competition for reading or understanding classical Islamic books at the As'adiyah Pesantren in Sengkang Wajo, South Sulawesi, on October 1-7, 2025.

"The International MQK was attended by representatives from 10 countries, and the National MQK was attended by representatives from 34 provinces," said Basnang Said, Director for Pesantren Affairs.

"This event was attended by 1,300 participants from various provinces and 60 international participants," he added.

The fourth is an ecotheology movement event at pesantrens on October 2, 2025. The Religious Affairs Ministry will involve students in 34 provinces to take simultaneous action to plant trees in the environment around pesantren to preserve the environment.

The fifth is the Pesantren Independence Expo at Merdeka Square, Sengkang, Wajo, on October 2-7, 2025.

Pesantrens that already have business products will also exhibit their products at affiliated campuses of the Ministry of Religious Affairs from October 10-22, 2025.

The sixth is the Pesantren Award on October 20, 2025, at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Headquarters in Jakarta.

The event will present awards to local governments, prominent figures, and students who have contributed to advancing pesantren education.

The seventh is a prayer for the nation held simultaneously in all pesantren with the center of activity at the Istiqlal Mosque on October 21, 2025.

The last agenda will be a night of devotion to the nation with the president. President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to present gifts to santris for their dedication to maintaining national unity.

"Various agendas will be presented, including how the government has awarded pesantrens through the Pesantren Independence Program," said Basnang Said.
