Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) showcased its new Harimau tanks, developed in cooperation with Turkiye, at the TNI AD Fair 2025 at the National Monument (Monas) square in Central Jakarta on Saturday.

"The Harimau tanks are the Army’s latest defense equipment, produced through collaboration between Indonesia and Turkiye. We take pride in these domestically manufactured units," Head of the TNI AD Information Office Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana told the media during the event.

Weighing around 30 tons, a Harimau tank measures seven meters in length, 3.2 meters in width, and 2.62 meters in height. The vehicle can reach a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour and has an operational range of 600 kilometers.

This armored vehicle's main weapon is a 105-millimeter cannon with a maximum firing range of more than five kilometers, depending on ammunition type, and an effective range of around three kilometers.

The Harimau tank project entered production in 2019, with prototypes delivered from Turkiye to Indonesia in 2021 for mass production by state-owned defense company PT Pindad in Bandung. The Army currently operates 18 units.

Alongside the Harimau tanks, the Army also displayed other modern equipment, including Anoa armored personnel carriers, Leopard main battle tanks, helicopters, and various communication and construction assets.

Major General Adisura Firdaus Tarigan, logistics assistant to the Army Chief of Staff, said the fair also features 22 educational and public service booths.

He noted that the booths provide visitors with information on recruitment, food security programs, and the Army’s history.

The TNI AD Fair, held on September 20–21, is part of a series of events marking the 80th anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
