“Justice for the victim and her family is our priority,” said Minister Arifah Fauzi on Sunday.
“The East Kolaka UPTD PPA has visited the victim’s home and offered psychological support to the grieving family," she added.
The ministry also confirmed that ongoing psychological counseling will be provided to the victim’s younger sibling, who witnessed the assault.
Legal assistance is being arranged to support the sibling during police questioning.
“This case remains under our supervision,” the minister said.
In addition, trauma healing sessions are planned for children in the victim’s neighborhood, along with Quranic study gatherings aimed at providing spiritual and emotional support for the community.

“When tragic incidents like this occur, the impact extends beyond the victim’s family. Children in the area may experience fear or anxiety, especially when parental supervision is lacking. We must address these secondary effects seriously,” Arifah added.
The victim, a 10-year-old girl identified as MA, was attacked on Friday, September 5, while cycling to Quranic lessons with her younger sibling.
She was intercepted and assaulted by an 18-year-old male neighbor, identified as RH.
Witnesses rushed the girl to East Kolaka Regional Hospital, but she died from her injuries.
The police have arrested RH, who is now in custody. The case is under investigation and expected to proceed to trial.
Authorities say the suspect may face multiple charges, including child abuse leading to death and premeditated assault, with a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years.
The ministry emphasized that it will continue monitoring the case and supporting recovery efforts in the affected community.
