Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is committed to playing an active role in the transformation and providing education that is relevant to global challenges in the 21st century.

Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohammad Oemar conveyed that at the 7th Creativity in Education Summit (CES), held on September 17-18, 2025, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, according to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Paris received in Jakarta on Sunday.

The forum emphasized the importance of alignment between assessment and pedagogy, which positions creativity as a core learning outcome.

Oemar stated that one of the strategies to realize Indonesia's commitment to education is through major curriculum reforms with the implementation of a Deep Learning approach.

The approach is a learning approach that encourages in-depth understanding, critical thinking, and the application of knowledge in various contexts.

Oemar emphasized that the reforms essentially empower teachers and schools to create student-centered, contextual, and competency-based learning experiences.

At the forum, the committee recognized 50 creative technology-based education projects from around the world in the 2025 Creativity in School Awards, which recognize the best school or educator initiatives and provide continued funding support in 2026.

The only creative project from Indonesia was carried out by the Pontianak-based Virtual Education Academy (VEA). VEA, led by Rahmat Putra Yuda, presented a case study on the use of Google LM Notebook with AI at 13th Junior High School to transform English learning.

The Indonesian Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Satrya Wibawa, expressed his appreciation for VEA's creative project.

"This shows that Indonesia is not only structuring its education system to meet domestic needs, but also contributing to the global discourse on the future of education," Wibawa said.

This, he said, aligns with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's program, which launched the Rumah Pendidikan initiative on January 21, 2025.

The digital portal unites hundreds of previously fragmented educational services into one integrated ecosystem, thereby strengthening access, efficiency, and innovation in education throughout Indonesia.

"Indonesia places students at the center of learning, strengthens character education, and develops competencies relevant to the 21st century," Wibawa said.

Indonesia, he said, reaffirms its commitment to strengthening adaptive and inclusive digital-based education.
