Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres considers Indonesia a special partner of the UN, according to Indonesia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Umar Hadi.

This was conveyed by Guterres to Hadi while the new Indonesian representative was handing over his letter of credentials at the UN Secretariat Building in New York on Friday (September 19).

Hadi, during a press briefing at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York on Saturday (September 20) evening, said that the UN continues to monitor Indonesia's active role in supporting multilateral system reform ideas.

"The UN sees Indonesia as one of the emerging nations that continues to contribute to world peace. So, Indonesia is also considered a privileged partner of the UN," he said.

He noted that the UN also hopes for a bigger role and contribution of Indonesia through the participation of President Prabowo Subianto at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The president is scheduled to deliver his speech at the general debate on September 23 and will call for a multilateral system reform.

In addition, he further said, President Prabowo will also attend a session that will discuss the two-state solution at the High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution on September 22.

On the same day, the president is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General.

Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York at 4:50 p.m. local time on Saturday, accompanied by his son Didit Hediprasetyo, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
