"The comprehensive evaluation was conducted by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal", Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung confirmed here on Tuesday.
Tanjung stated that the parameters for suspension vary, ranging from the companies' compliance with the post-mining reclamation policy to adherence to the Work and Budget Plan (RKAB), among others.
Some mines whose permits were suspended produce more than the set threshold in the RKAB, he stated.
"As long as companies operate in accordance with the permit and and business plan of the year, there should be no problem," he said.
When the media asked whether the permit can be reinstated, Tanjung stated that it depends on the directorate general's evaluation result.
A letter from the directorate general numbered T-1533/MB.07/DJB.T/2025 stated that some 190 mineral and coal mining companies have had their permits suspended as a penalty for violating the post-mining reclamation policy.
During the penalty period, the companies still have to manage, maintain, and monitor the mining area, including in Mining Business License Areas.
