Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Elementary and Secondary Education Ministry has launched a STEM Learning Guide and 109 interactive STEM-themed books to support the nationwide implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.

“Mastering STEM is essential to shaping an adaptive, innovative generation prepared to face global challenges in this technological era,” Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti said Wednesday.

He emphasized that future generations will be defined by their technological skills, with science playing a vital role in equipping students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected, tech-driven world.

“To prepare for a technocratic society, we must start now by building a knowledge-based culture and strengthening relevant skills. STEM must be introduced early,” he said.

Mu’ti added that promoting science education aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs, particularly the fourth pillar of the Nawa Cita and Astacita visions — developing world-class talent through education, science, technology, and human resource development.

“Learning science isn’t just about theory or concepts. It also introduces children to transcendental awareness, builds character, and helps them lead a modest, purposeful life,” he said.

He stressed the importance of integrating science with real-life experiences to shape scientists who are not only skilled, but also ethical and socially responsible.

As part of this initiative, the ministry launched the STEM Learning Guide and made 109 curated interactive books publicly available at https://buku.kemendikdasmen.go.id/buku-stem
, aiming to expand access to quality STEM materials.

The initiative supports the ministry’s broader policy to strengthen STEM education across elementary and secondary schools.

Head of BSKAP Toni Toharudin said he expects the new resources will accelerate the adoption of STEM learning nationwide and better prepare students for the demands of the future.
