Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for Amsterdam on Wednesday night, concluding his official visit to Ottawa.

He and his delegation left Canada at 9 p.m. local time for the Netherlands, the next stop on his diplomatic tour.

Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Jess Dutton, Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Muhsin Syihab, and Defense Attaché Air Commodore Edwardus Wisoko Aribowo were present at the airport to bid him farewell.

During his stay in Ottawa, Prabowo held two high-level meetings seen as a new chapter in Indonesia–Canada relations.

He first met Governor General Mary Simon at Rideau Hall. The warm reception was described by Jakarta as reflecting Canada's high regard for Indonesia.

In their talks, Prabowo and Simon reaffirmed shared values of democracy, pluralism, and multiculturalism, agreeing on the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges.

Later, Prabowo met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at Parliament Hill. Both leaders praised bilateral friendship and explored ways to deepen cooperation.

They also discussed regional and global issues, including Palestine, ASEAN affairs, and Indo-Pacific dynamics.

Prabowo lauded Canada's global leadership and invited Carney to visit Indonesia. Carney highlighted Indonesia's role as a strategic Southeast Asian partner and referenced Prabowo's recent UN speech.

The day concluded with the signing of multiple cooperation agreements, including the landmark Indonesia–Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA).
